The underlying ethos of the IMAGE project is participation: autistic students participate in the creation of an employability toolkit, careers advisors co-creating training materials on autism support. The IMAGE project has now teamed up with the lovely people at DUXU, the International Conference of Design, User Experience and Usability. DUXU will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, in July 2020 as part of the HCI International conference.
For DUXU 2020, we will be organising a parallel paper session on the theme of “Stronger Together: Participatory Design Methods, Challenges and Solutions”. The session will bring together researchers and practitioners interested in participatory design – the approach to product design that involves stakeholders, end-users and the design/production team as integral parts of the process. The aim is to help ensure that the end-product fully meets the needs of users, and will be accepted and adopted by those users.
IMAGE’s Marc Fabri, Elena Syurina and Mitzi Waltz chair the session and will be responsible for selecting papers based on the reviews of an international panel.
If you work in this field, we invite you to share your research. We are particularly interested in approaches that involve users or audiences in a highly inclusive and empowered way, as part of the design team and as experts of their own lived experiences.
